There are a lot of information you can get through social media mobile applications. But are those information 100% real? I believe not because people are free to use apps such like twitter to post anything they like. Therefore, what information you received may not be real.

In the case of the Malaysia Airline missing flight. One Twitter user posted a fake news about MH370 has emergency landed somewhere in China. However, official announce from government that MH370 still missing.

Follower Become Stalker May Result In Cybercrime

User of Facebook, Instagram, or twitter will have the chance of getting followers. Pretty lady are more likely to be followed by large amount of people. However, one or more of the followers may be a stalker and result in cybercrime which risking one’s LIFE!

Malaysian female Blogger threatened by cyber stalker. The cyber stalking went on for so long for her, so much so that it drove her to a boiling point. She finally decided to write about the recurring incident after receiving a death threat from the stalker.

There are many applications for social networking. For example, LinkedIn is a social media application designed specifically for the business community. The goal of this application is to allow registered members to establish and document networks of people they know and trust professionally. However, scammer might disguise as a professional to target big company.

Scammers impersonate bank executive on LinkedIn to target corporate bank accounts. The scammer disguise as a professional manager from highly popular bank in Malaysia trying to initiate money transfers. Businessman have to be careful!

Last Seen Too Much?

Whatsapp is one of the most popular messaging app that is used today. This is because that this messaging app is very easy to use and comes free of charge. Among the many features of Whatsapp, there is also a feature that everyone either loves or hate which is the "last seen" feature.

This feature has caused many relationships to crumble because of sometimes couples tend to seen their significant other's message but not reply because they are busy. But once they check the "last seen" at their Whatsapp they will know they their significant other has seen their message and did not reply causing an argument between them.

The Issues Of Social Media - Video

This is a video done by us "Appspocalypse" and the video its about the Issues of Social Media. This video conveying "THEN" those days when social media is not introduced yet and "NOW" this days we are frequently updating ourself and excessively use of social media till it became a daily norm. Besides, this video containing five different issues of social media which is decrease productivity, increase accident rate, restless, increase cybercrime and lack of communication.

Decrease productivity

Then - Student are focus during class and after class.

Now - Student are playing their phone during class and after class.

2. Increase Accident rate

Then - We are paying full concentration on the road while driving.

Now - We are putting concentration on our phone instead of on the road.

3. Restless

Then - After a long day, we went to bed till the next morning.

Now - We went to bed but few moment later we started to play our phone agian.

4. Increase cybercrime

Then - a person need to be physically involve in a crime such as rob.

Now - with a click of button all privacy and data can be transfer easily.

5. Lack of communication

Then - We used to play with each other at the playground. / We used to meet our love one through incident.

Now - With technology we communicate using internet via mobile. / We find our

love one using mobile app.

Whatsapp is a good communication application but it also comes with a fair share of flaws. For example, people are tend to use it to share information repeatedly and result in spamming.

Unknown number sending messages to promo about jobs fair, real estate investment, and advertisement in Malaysia. We are facing the problem receiving unwanted spam messages and wonder how they get our contact number.

Quick But A Bad Way?

There is plenty of social media applications used by businesses. For example like Twitter as a medium used by company to do advertisement. Twitter is fast where as you post anything to the internet, your follower will immediate receive the information. However, as Twitter is fast and if you carelessly post anything, your follower will notice it soon.

Malaysia Airlines apologizes for a promotion tweet and removed it after one of the follower give a feedback. They said it was intended to inspire travellers during this holiday period to explore destinations and deals. However, due to the incident of MH370 and MH17, people cannot accept what Malaysia Airlines had tweet.

Misuse of Twitter cause bad consequences

Everyone has the freedom of speech and most of us uses Twitter app to share their tough, felling, experience and etc. When, Twitter is used in a wrong way it could be a disaster and cause bad consequences . In the recent case, a twitter user by the name of Wong Hoi Cheng has tweet "Bastardization of @PDRMsia. Thanks to the ruthless @KBAB51. Henrich Himmler of Malaysia". This has became a wake up call to all twitter user to not touch any sensitive issue, being disrespectful and provoking others on social media. Then, Malaysia's top-ranking policeman Inspector-General of Polic (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar sounded his warning on Twitter not misuse the media to insult and incite.

Mobile Apps Changing Asia?

Mobile applications are changing the way we shop, socialise and play. While this trend has helped created many business opportunity in Malaysia and many other countries in Asia, its disruption of social behaviour is undeniable therefore we must address this issue in order to fully capitalize on this innovative technology.

Although these apps make things easier in our life, nothing beats the bond developed through face-to-face conversations. Things such as eye contact and a hand shake can never be achieved through the use of mobile applications.

Phishing Attacks through Twitter

Twitter has a maximum number of character count of 140 character. Besides, twitter are famous with "retweet" and "quote". We are very familiar with the incident of the crash MH17. Shortly after Malaysia Airline reported that it had lost contact with flight MH17 from Amsterdam. A numerous of tweet written in Indonesian language and includes the hashtag #MH17. The tweet went viral by hundreds of users retwetted it and has form a "spam". Through this phishing attack can be perform easily and in large quantity.

Experts at security firm Trend Micro have detected the tweets URLs contain of malicious domains were mainly used to spread a Zues Variant SALITY malware.

Pirate Kings, Candy Crush Saga, Farm Ville. The names listed above are the most popular games during these days. These games are energy based game which means that you can't continue the game if you are out of energy. There is only two ways to increase you energy, either by topup which is paying money to the game or sending game invitations to your friends to received some energy from them.

Because of this, it causes the issue of spamming game invitations. All of these games are linked to facebook, so when someone send you an invitation, your facebook notification will popup not just on your computer but your smartphone as well because nowadays people are usually have an facebook app on their phone. This cases not only happened in US, Singapore, but our country, Malaysia are included as well.

There are a lot of social media apps that can be downloaded for free such as Facebook, Twitter, Wechat and more. Despite they might have their negative sides, but these mobile social apps are actually very helpful and it allow the users to deliver messages to people all around the world by just tapping their smartphones. Why do I say so? We can see this in the example of the incident of Flight QZ8501.

Tony Fernandes has use twitter as a social platform to deliver his apologies and constantly updating the victim's family and the public with the latest information that they have. Besides that, he also tweeted some positive tweets to encourage the people to stay strong. With the twitter app on our smartphones, we are able to grasp the latest information in a short time.

Posting photo and video on social network has become a norm of today's life. However, when a child started to use social network such as "Instagram" to post their daily activity. Things might go overhand. The problem is, a anonymous from one of the dark corners of the Internet might stalking your child. This anonymous are known as "Pedophile".

Superintending your child to use internet and digital device is not the main solution. Whereby, parent should increase their awareness toward their child and spent more time with them to guide them. Last but not least, most importantly parent must have knowledge on "child online protection" (PTCOP) to protect their beloved children.

Too much internet?

A survey of over 2,600 people was recently conducted in Malaysia, Thailand, Sweden and Norway to study the use of chat apps being used in people's daily life to communicate. To no surprise Malaysia and Thailand have the highest users of over 81% as oppose to Sweden and Norway having 44% and 57%.

True that chat application does bring many benefit to us making it easier to communicate with our friends, but on the other side it also make face to face interaction much more awkward for some people and they might lose the skill to to be able to talk to other people without using these apps.
